ExxonMobil chemical earnings drop on weaker US results

ExxonMobil says its chemical segment turned in earnings of $872 million, down 9.4 year over year (YOY) from $963 million. US chemical earnings dropped 32 YOY, to $352 million, while earn- ings outside the United States increased 17 YOY, to $520 million. The company says margins accounted for $10 million of the decline, volume and mix efects $30 million, and unfavorable inventory efects $50 million.
