The transient behaviour of heat exchanger network is investigated numerically,The analysis is aimed to predict thermal transients in the network in case of any fluctuation of inlet temperature of hot or cold stream,Mathematical model equations are developed to describe the transient heat exchange between the process streams.A finite differerence numerical scheme and solution algorithm is developed to solve the set of model equations.The results show the nature of thermal dynamics in the heat exchanging streams owing to sinusoidal and periodic square wave variation of the inlet temperature,The investigation gives an idea about the relative interaction between the different fluid streams and the identification of the process streams,which are more susceptible to inlet temperature change for the test network configurations.Possible points for temperature control in heat exchanger networks,considered for test eases,are suggested.
