Reactions of a 5-hydroxymethyl-1h-indole-4,7-dione with enamines for the first consstruction of 1H,5H-pyrano3,4-findole-4,9-dione derivatives

5-Hydroxymethyl-l-methyl-2,3-diphenyl-lH-indole-4,7-dione (4) was synthesized and the tandem Michael addition/cyclization sequence between this indolequinone and enamines has been used to construct title pyranoindolequinone derivatives (6),(7),and (9).
