US president Donald Trump's stance on trade could damage the country's LNG exports, experts told delegates at an event held by think-tank the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC, last month. Trump's decision to withdraw the US from the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership on 23 January may affect LNG exports to Japan and Malaysia, Atlantic Council senior fellow Agnia Grigas said. The two countries had hoped that the trade deal could lower the cost of importing LNG from the US.
