Sunoco’s Chemicals Unit Posts Fourth-Quarter Net Gain

Sunoco’s chemicals business posted fourth-quarter net income of $6 mil- lion, compared with a net loss of $4 million for the year-ago period. The company cites lower expenses and the absence of a $12 million after-tax unfavorable lower of cost or market adjustment to Sunoco Chemicals’ poly- propylene (PP) inventory recorded in the fourth quarter of 2008, Sunoco says.
