PNG LNG operating at 8.3mn t/yr

The 6.9mn t/yr PNG LNG venture in Papua New Guinea (PNG) produced at an annualised rate of 8.3mn t in October-December last year, pushing junior partner Australian independent Oil Search's production above its 2016 guidance. The ExxonMobil-operated venture's record average quarterly production rate was up from 8.1mn t/yr in July-September. Oil Search expects the plant to continue operating at or slightly below the October-December level and has set a target of 23mn-24mn bl of oil equivalent (boe) for its share of PNG LNG production in 2017, compared with an annualised rate of 24.4mn boe for October-December.
