Efficient ruthenium-catalyzed synthesis of 3dendralenes from 1,3-dienicallylic carbonates

Selective elimination from 1,3-dienic allylic carbonates occurs inthe presence of a catalytic amount of Ru(C_5Me_5)(4,4'-di-Bu~t-2,2'-bipyridine)(CH_3CN)PF_6and provides efficient access to avariety of 3dendralenes.
