European Commission calls for evidence on unintentionally released microplastics

The European Commission has issued a call for evidence for its initiative to reduce the presence of microplastics unintentionally released into the environment. Microplastics can contain a complex mixture of chemicals that may leach into the environment and make their way into the food chain. In its call, the Commission is looking for information on the three main sources of microplastics: 1.tyre abrasions; 2.plastic pellet losses; and 3.synthetic textiles.
