IEC Meeting: Country Reports

The following are some of the country reports given at the International Egg Commission's (IEC) annual meeting held in Sydney, Australia in September. World egg production, including hatching eggs during 2003 increased by 2.2% on the 2002 level to 55.8 million tons, said Mark Williams, IEC's Statistical Advisor. Looking at each continent, he showed that the majority of production took place in Asia (59%) where there was a 4.1% increase on the 2002 level to 33 million tons. Apart from Europe, which showed a 1.0% decrease, production remained unchanged on all other continents.
