Volkswagen has expanded its Amarok utility range in Australia with the introduction of a single cab body style and a class-first eight-speed automatic transmission on dual cab models that combines with a new TDI420 diesel engine. The single has the same 5181mm overall length and 1944mm width as the twin cab, and rests on an identical 3095mm wheelbase, yet the shorter cab translates to a significantly longer tray that is 2205mm in length (up 650mm). Maximum tray width is the same 1620mm, and 1222mm between the wheel-arches, contributing to a total load area of 3.57 square metres. VW says the bed will take two Euro-size pallets loaded sideways, one behind the other, and still leave a further 600mm of length clear.
