Metal finishing education was the soup dujour at the recent Southern Metal Finishing Conference, which took place Sept. 24-25 in Charleston, S.C. There, dozens of knowledge-hungry shop owners. finishers, and managers came to visit tabletop exhibitors; hear informative presentations regarding the state of the industry; and learn about the latest technologies in the fields of powder outing and electroplating. Among the highlights: Michael Siegmund executive vice president MacDermid, Inc., delivered the keynote presentation dealing with issues relevant to the globalization of of the metal finishing industry- particularly as it relates to China-and the effect of international competition on individual companies and job shops. Furthermore, he discussed how finishing operations can still compete in a changing world.
