Sakhalin-2 Starts LNG Exports

Russia's first-ever LNG cargo - from the Sakhalin-2 project on the Pacific shelf - will be shipped to world markets on Mar. 28-29. A 145,000 cubic meter LNG tanker has already arrived at Prigorodnoye port and began loading Thursday. The cargo is headed for Japan, which has bought more than twothirds of Sakhalin-2's planned output. Tokyo Gas and Tokyo Electric Power Co. will reportedly share the first two cargoes; the second is expected to ship soon after the first.
