New UK Gas Storage Opens

Some commercial operations have begun at the first UK gas storage facility to open in four years at Aldbrough in Yorkshire, according to owners Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) and StatoilHydro. SSE, the UK's second-largest residential energy supplier, will own two-thirds of the capacity and Statoil one-third; they spent ￡165 million ($271 million) on development up to March 2009.
