Island Gets UK CBM Nod

UK-based Island Gas said Wednesday that it has received approval to produce coalbed methane (CBM) from its Four Oaks project in northwest England.The company said it expects to produce first gas from the site, on Petroleum Exploration and Development License 145, in the coming months and that it will be sold locally for electricity production. According to Island, this will be the first time CBM has been used to generate power in the UK.
