Japanese Utilities Cut LNG Use

Japan's 10 largest power utilities cut LNG consumption again in January as power demand continued its 13-month slide, according to data from the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC). Power utilities consumed 5 million tons of the superchilled fuel in January, down 4 compared to last year, marking 11 straight months of decline. Coal consumption fell 3.4 year-on-year to 5.5 million tons while oil consumption fell 13.3 to 32,887 b/d (IOD Jan.21'16).
