Scania introduce new marine model

Offering more power in a smaller package, Swedish engine builder Scania has introduced the DSI12 marine diesel to replace the DSI11. With a displacement of 11.7 litres and a maximum output (pleasure craft rating) of 675hp at 2300 rev/min, the company claims that the unit is amongst the most compact in the under 12-litre class having a length of 1341mm and a height of just 999mm. An in-line six-cylinder turbocharged unit with a bore of 127mm and a stroke of 154mm, the engine is the result of a two year development programme which began with the decision to build industrial and marine 12-series engines on separate production lines.
