摘要

The recoil energy spectrum for36Cl produced in the (n,ggr;) nuclear reaction is calculated from prompt ggr;hyphen;ray spectroscopy data of Spits and Kopecky. The average energy for the recoil36Cl atoms is found to be 634 eV, whereas the most probable energy is 720 eV if the maximum recoil energy of 1099 eV is excluded. Comparison is made with the corresponding spectrum for the lower energy, recoil38Cl atoms also generated by thermal neutron capture.
