Wavelength spacing is becoming narrower in the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. We propose and demonstrate multiwavelength fiber lasers with tunable wavelength spacing. A tunable spacing filter consists of polarizers and a PMF. By changing the stress position on the PMF, the spacing can be controlled. We could tune the wavelength spacing of a multiwavelength fiber laser with the erbium doped fiber cooled by liquid nitrogen. We also demonstrate multiwavelength operation at room temperature by using an acousto-optic modulator.
