Kimura and Archibald 1 reported that different neuronal mechanisms underlie the imitation of static configurations versus the imitation of actions. However, because the configuration and action models used in this study differed in regard to familiarity and meaning, conclusions are rendered problematic. In this article, we present a patient who showed a clear discrepancy between imitating finger configurations and imitating finger actions using comparable models, and we show the importance of movement information for human beings.
