Quantitative absorption coefficient measurements have been made for CO2in the region 1050ndash;1800A using a 1hyphen;meter vacuum monochromator with a phosphorhyphen;coated photomultiplier tube as detector. The absorption spectra obtained consisted of three continua (lgr;maxat 1121, 1332, 1475A) and possibly a fourth, all being superposed by many bands. For each continuumfvalues have been calculated. The results have been compared with some theoretical formulations by Mulliken. Upper limits of dissociation energies of the excited states of CO2are estimated.
