The four fundamental bands in the infrared spectrum of stibine and the two highhyphen;frequency bands in deuterohyphen;stibine have been measured. These bands have been sufficiently well analyzed to permit the determination of the size and the shape of the molecule. It has been possible, moreover, to correct the band centers for anharmonicity so as to estimate with considerable accuracy the values of the normal frequencies. The constants arrived at for the molecule are as follows: the SbH distancer0=1.71A, the Hsngbnd;Sbsngbnd;H angle agr;=91deg; 30prime;, the normal frequencies for stibine ohgr;1=1988.9, ohgr;2=795.9, ohgr;3=1974.5, ohgr;4=844.7, and for deuterohyphen;stibine the values ohgr;1*=1409.4, ohgr;2*=568.5, ohgr;3*=1403.5, and ohgr;4*=599.5 cmminus;1are obtained.
