Parametric light scattering

We observe a nonlinear lighthyphen;scattering process in which incident photons at two different frequencies give rise to scattered radiation at the sum frequency in an isotropic medium. We utilize this process to determine the ratio bgr;322/bgr;333of the dominant components of the molecular hyperpolarizability tensor bgr; forparahyphen;nitroaniline.
