The temperature dependencies of2Eglsqb;Crlpar;CNrpar;6rsqb;3minus;emission intensity from K3Cr(CN)6 and Cr(atp)6Cr(CN)6 and of4T2glsqb;Crlpar;atprpar;6rsqb;3plus;emission intensity from Cr(atp)6Cr(CN)6 and Cr(atp)6 (ClO4)3have been compared for excitation into the Cr(atp)63plus;and Cr(CN)63minus;absorption regions. In addition the emission intensity differences have been measured. 77deg;K lifetime measurements on the2Eganion and4T2gcation emissions from these compounds show the former to be 1000 times longer lived. Studies of the excitation spectra and of the emission spectrum of the double salt as a function of excitation wavelength are also described. The results show unequivocal evidence against major cation to anion energy transfer in this compound.
