The IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences announces a forthcoming Special Section on Recent Advances in Technologies for Assessing System Reliability to be published in July, 2009. The reliability assessment of a complex system such as a telecommunication system, a power supply system, and a computer system which provides the infrastructure of a highly informative society is magnifying its importance with the progress of information and communication technology. This special section aims at disseminating recent advances in the research field of quantitative reliability assessment of large scale/complex systems. The original papers in the following areas are invited for submission.
