Brazilia abandons 5.7 diesel price hike to avoid strike.Mexico considers new state retail chain to lower fuel prices.The latest refinery-gate increase in Brazil was scheduled to have taken effect on April 12,but threats by truck drivers to strike encouraged state oil firm Petrobras to maintain the price freeze that it had adopted as of March 26.The company last raised diesel prices on March 22,as part of its “international price parity” pokey.The average diesel price at the refinery gate is currently 2.1432 reals/kter($2.09/gal).Last spring,truck drivers staged a nationwide strike to protest high fuel prices,disrupting fuel and food suppkes across the country.
