摘要

A rapid microwave-assisted synthesis and detailed characterization of a bifunctional nanocomposite composed of a magnetic core, Fe_3O _4, and a semiconductor shell, CdSe, are reported. Magnetite Fe _3O_4 nanoparticles are synthesized and used as seeds for the heterogeneous nucleation and growth of the CdSe nanoshells. The optical properties of the nanocomposites are assessed by UV-Vis and photoluminescence measurements. In addition, the crystalline phase and size distribution of the nanocrystals are determined by XRD and TEM, respectively. The results indicate that the as-prepared nanocomposites are nearly monodisperse with an average size of 10 nm and a quantum yield of 13 . The synthesized nanocomposites clearly provide both magnetic and luminescent properties which could be useful for simultaneous detection and separation possibly in biomedical applications.
