摘要

By focusing on metro-access network in the coming 5G era, we will introduce two promising technologies based upon digital coherent and multi-input multi-output (MIMO) and propose their immediate applications; radio-over-fiber (RoF) transmission and mode division multiplexing (MDM) transmission and network. In the RoF transmission, we show converged digital signal processing (DSP) for MIMO and compensating signal impairments both in optical fiber and free-space. We also present the experimental results of millimeter (mm)-wave band RoF transmissions. Next, we discuss the MIMO MDM transmission in a low differential mode group delay (DMGD) two-mode fiber (TMF) link and a deployment scenario of MDM metro area network using the mode path.
