The nonradiative energy transfer of an organic scintillating solution as a function of the solute concentration has been determined by three independent methods: namely, direct measurements of the fluorescent lifetime, the light output of the solvent, and the light output of the solute. The efficiency of energy transfer ranges from 12 at 0.02g/l,to 92 at 2g/lof PPO in xylene. The results from the three methods agree within a few percent.
