摘要

One of the drawbacks of multicarrier systems is that the transmitting signals have high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). These signals are distorted when they are amplified by the non-linear amplifier with the low input-back off (IBO). The non-linear distortion can be reduced by the PAPR reduction methods, such as selected mapping (SLM) and partial transmitted sequence (PTS). However, they require the high complexity of calculation to reduce the non-liner distortion sufficiently. The error rate performance degraded by the nonlinear distortion is more effectively improved when the sum of the instantaneous power over the saturated power of the non-liner amplifier is reduced. We propose a new criterion to improve the error rate performance degraded by non-linear distortion. We refer to this criterion as Exceed Power (EP). The EP evaluates the sum of the instantaneous power to average power ratio over the threshold power to average power ratio (TPAPR), which is equal to IBO. From our computer simulation, we show that the bit error rate (BER) degraded by non-linear distortion can be more effectively improved by reducing the EP with SLM and PTS than by reducing the PAPR with them.
