The Port of Los Angeles in the US state of California could see its importance in the bunker market lessened following the implementation of the IMO's 0.5-sulfur bunker rule next Jan.Bunker suppliers operating at the port have historically relied on relatively inexpensive Mexican high-sulfur residual fuel oil barrels to sell in Los Angeles for bunkering,but with this fuel not complying with the new IMO sulfur specification,suppliers could be left short of product.
