The 9.6hyphen;micron band of atmospheric ozone has been investigated by means of high resolution measurements of the solar spectrum from the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland. A rotational analysis confirms its assignment as thev3fundamental and results in the following values for the vibrational frequency and rotational constants:ngr;3equals;1042.16thinsp;cmminus;1;thinsp;thinsp;Aequals;3.502thinsp;cmminus;1,thinsp;thinsp;Bequals;0.4401thinsp;cmminus;1,thinsp;thinsp;Cequals;0.3883thinsp;cmminus;1.The decrease of all three rotational constants relative to the groundhyphen;state values suggests an appreciable Coriolis interaction with thev1fundamental.
