Discrete Mathematics has been applied to various areas such as electronics, information and communication, and is playing important roles in these areas. This special section, which started in 1991, has been planned every year to aim for stimulating research in the areas of discrete mathematics and its applications. This year, we have received 29 submissions (25 full and 4 letter papers), covering a variety of topics in the area such as algorithms and data structures, trees and graphs, distributed computation, computational geometry, information theory and cryptography. At least two reviewers to each full paper and at least one reviewer to each letter were assigned. Based on their comments, 15 full and 2 letter papers were selected for publication. All the submissions were reviewed independently, so that we did not dare to reject qualified papers to keep the acceptance ratio low.
