Reaction coordinates for planar reactive collisions of an atom and diatomic molecule are described and a technique for the change of basis required by the coordinates is discussed. A quantum mechanical method of calculating the probabilities of reactive and nonreactive scattering and differential and total cross sections (of dimension length) is presented. The symmetry of the reaction is utilized to reduce the computation and in describing the change of basis.
