摘要

In a torus with a toroidal magnetic field it is found that the discharge cannot be struck between the filament and the vessel wall if the filament (the source of thermionic electrons) is oriented parallel to the magnetic field. This observation and other experimental results lead to a conclusion that electric flux plays a crucial role in the determination of the striking characteristics of the discharge.
