Bonding in Icosahedral Complexes

Results of a group theoretical investigation of icosahedralAB12are presented. These are used in setting up twelve equivalent, orthogonal bond orbitals. Each of the orbitals exhibits a Pauling strength of 3.921. Crystalhyphen;field splitting of valence levels ofAis also discussed.
