1. Experimental brain concussion was produced by the application of positive pressure pulses of short duration to the rabbit brain.2. The succinoxidase activity of isolated neurons and glial cells from the lateral vestibular nucleus was measured with Zeuthens microdiver technic.3. Neurons isolated shortly after the application of the pressure pulse to the brain showed a striking increase in enzyme activity. The most pronounced increase was observed after a pressure pulse of 35 to 45 PSI. The succinoxidase activity of the glial cells was not significantly changed from that of the controls. When the pressure pulse was applied directly to the isolated cells prepared from control animals the succinoxidase activity was not uniformly increased as in the in vivo experiments.
