The electronic energy levels determined from absorption spectra of U4+in crystals containing UCl62mdash;complexes are identified as to irreducible representation and the resulting set of levels used to determine the leasthyphen;squares best values of SlaterFkintegrals, spinmdash;orbit zgr;5f, and fourthhyphen; and sixthhyphen;degree crystalline potential parametersAlang;r4rang; andBlang;r6rang;. It was necessary to diagonalize within the 5f2configuration all these interactions simultaneously. The values areF2equals;191.4,F4equals;33.83,F6equals;3.98,zgr;5fequals;1796,Alang;r4rang;equals;912,Blang;r6rang;equals;56.5. New data on the spectra of the UBr62mdash;complex are presented.
