摘要

The theoretical treatment of the transient Kerr effect in the previous paper is extended to the case where a homogeneous electric field is suddenly applied to a system in which a Boltzmann distribution of molecular orientation has been established by another homogeneous electric field. An equation which has a convenient form for computer calculation is proposed. Accuracy of the numerical results of the equation is examined and compared with other theories. It is shown how the transients for reversing pulses depend on the field strength and on the ratio of the induced dipole moment to the permanent dipole moment in a molecule at moderate field strengthes. The dependence of the relaxation time of rise process on the field strength is also examined in comparison with our previous theoretical expressions.
