Due largely to the Noise Regulation Law and the VibrationRegulation Law, the conventional percussion pile driving method hasalmost been impossible to adopt in urban areas. Nippon Steel hasdeveloped a low-noise and low-vibration pile driving method namedGantetsu pile. It is highly earthquake-resistance and causes lessdam- age to the environment than conventional pile driving methods.The ground soil is mixed with cement milk to form a solid cementcolumn, into which a pile with an embossed exterior is driven to forma steel and soil cement composite pile.
