Absorption spectra of UF6dissolved in liquid xenon, krypton, nitrous oxide, and methane have been obtained between 300 and 500 nm and between 400 and 4000 cmminus;1. Eighteen infrared bands of UF6were observed and were moderately (2ndash;9 cmminus;1FWHM) narrow. The band positions were found to move toward higher wave numbers ngr;tilde; as the temperatureTwas increased;dngr;tilde;/dTsim;0.02 cmminus;1/deg;C for the bands examined. Some anharmonicity constants were determined and were within experimental error of previous values for UF6vapor. Integrated absorption cross sections for the ngr;3, ngr;5+ngr;3, ngr;2+ngr;3, and ngr;1+ngr;3bands of UF6were measured to be ape;1times;10minus;16, 1.8times;10minus;19, 5.8times;10minus;19, and 3.9times;10minus;19cm2ndash;cmminus;1, respectively. The solubilities of UF6in liquid xenon, krypton, and methane have been measured.
