We have studied the nuclear modulation effect in electron spin echoes for complexes of Nd3+and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in frozen solution. Our aim was to find out whether this effect might be used to investigate metalndash;ion ATP complexes in biological systems. Experimental results have been compared with computer simulations based on NMR data for the Nd3+:ATP complex. The data has also been subjected to Fourier analysis. From the Fourier transforms it was found that the Nd3+:ATP complex tended to incorporate Na+ions which were present in the starting material from which the samples were prepared, thus forming a coordination compound containing two different metal ions.
