The heat capacity of scandium has been measured from 6 to 350deg;K. The results differ from previous measurements in this temperature range by more than the accuracies of the measurements. The difference is discussed in terms of impurity effects. The following values are obtained for the thermodynamic functions at 298.15deg;K:Cpdeg;thinsp;equals;thinsp;25.51thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.05, S298.15deg;thinsp;equals;thinsp;34.78thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.20, lpar;H298.15deg;thinsp;minus;thinsp;H0deg;rpar;thinsp;sol;thinsp;Tthinsp;equals;thinsp;17.46thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.10, andminus;thinsp;lpar;G298.15deg;thinsp;minus;thinsp;H0deg;rpar;thinsp;sol;thinsp;Tthinsp;equals;thinsp;17.31thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.14, all in joules per mole per degree Kelvin.
