Effect of growing media on germination and initial seedling growth of Albizia procera (Roxb.) Benth. in Terai zone of West Bengal.

An experiment consisting of six growing media viz., soil (T1), 1 soil:1 sand: 2 FYM (T2), 1 soil:1 sand: 1 FYM (T3), 1 soil: 1 FYM (T4), 1 soil: 1 sand (T5); and 2 soil:1 sand (T6) was conducted for germination and growth of Albizia procera seedlings during March to August 2005. Seeds sown in equal proportion of soil, sand and FYM gave significantly better germination and initial seedling growth than other media.
