The interacting ngr;1and ngr;3bands of SnH4have been studied by infrared absorption and infraredhyphen;microwave double resonance spectroscopy. The infrared spectrum has been taken with Dopplerhyphen;limited resolution using a tunable diode laser. Pure rotational transitions within the ngr;3state and rovibrational transitions between the ngr;1and ngr;3state have been observed by infraredhyphen;microwave double resonance. The infrared and microwave data have been fitted simultaneously to the ngr;1and ngr;3Hamiltonian coupled by one vibrationndash;rotation interaction term. Seventeen spectroscopic constants have been determined for each of the five most abundant isotopic species.
