Recently, IP micro mobility protocols, such as Hierarchical Mobile IP or Cellular IP, have been discussed in the IETF Mobile IP Working Group. However, these protocols are designed for environments where the network is a simple tree structure and only one gateway is deployed. Therefore, when we implement these protocols into real mobile networks which have multiple gateways, we need to add a function which can support a Toad balancing algorithm for multiple gateways to increase credibility against impediments of the network and reduce delay of packet arrival. In this article, we focus on Cellular IP and propose a load balancing algorithm for robust mobile networks which have multiple gateways. Also, we show simulation results and confirm our proposed method is effective.
