With the expansion of IT networks for PC, PDA and cellular phone and the spread of digital camera and digital video, various images are getting essential media for our life just like music and speech. The image media is handled in many fields such as image capturing, communication, broadcasting, storages, displays, printings, CG, and so on. However, image quality in each field has been discussed independently, and the standardization has been made separately. These movements have a possibility obstructing the seamless communication of the image media between different fields.
