摘要

An investigation carried out over two years in a pilot scale plant in cetesb, sao paulo, indicated good technical and economical viability of the application of high rate photosynthetic pond systems for the treatment of domestic sewage and the reuse of algae for animal food. Although the investments and operational costs of the proposed system are almost the same as that for the activated sludge process, the quality of the effluent treated by the high rate photosynthetic pond is much better. This system also offers a return by providing a protein source. The commercialization of this product would contribute considerably to reductions in the operational costs.
