Pure rotational measurements have been made at about 800deg;C on the four naturally occurring AgCl species. The internuclear distance isre=2.28079plusmn;0.00004 Aring;. Starkhyphen;effect measurements give a dipole moment mgr;=5.70plusmn;0.15 D. Quadrupole hyperfine interactions for the35Cl isotope give a coupling constanteqQ=minus;37.32plusmn;0.20 Mc/sec. An analysis is made of the pure rotational spectra in higher vibrational states. Values of the molecular constants for107Ag35Cl are:Be=3687.04plusmn;0.09 Mc/sec, agr;e=17.855plusmn;0.011 Mc/sec, ggr;e=0.019plusmn;0.004 Mc/sec,De=0.003plusmn;0.003 Mc/sec. Molecular constants are given for the remaining isotopic combinations of AgCl. The bond type of the gaseous AgCl molecule is discussed.
