New EN document to allow easy replacement of vehicle batteries

An EU funded project EASYBAT, to increase the interoperability of batteries used in electric cars has reached fruition with the publication of a new document CWA 16688:2013. Drawn up in cooperation with European standardisation bodies, this CEN workshop agreement is not a full standard, but will help towards achieving EASYBAT’s end goals of creating a structure to allow “manufacturers to easily integrate battery switching technology into their electric car platform.”
