Resonant CARS spectra of NO2

Resonant CARS spectra are reported for nitrogen dioxide gas for frequency shifts of 1200–3400 cm−1from a 532 nm ohgr;1pump source. The spectra change dramatically with slight changes in ohgr;1frequency. Much vibrational–rotational structure is observed but the analysis is complicated by the contributions of more than one resonant process. Various possible resonances are considered and absorption spectra and intensity measurements are used to assess the importance of some of these.
